What actually drives the number
Grooming quotes in this city are famously hard to compare, because most places price after seeing the animal. Our pet grooming prices in Dubai are published: cat grooming from AED 69, a full cat groom AED 120, and dogs by weight — AED 145 under 10 kg, AED 165 for 11–20 kg and AED 200 for 21–40 kg. A groom combined with the annual vaccination is AED 249.
Two things move the number, and both are visible before we start rather than added afterwards. Weight is the obvious one — a Maltese and a Labrador are not the same job. The other is the state of the coat: a severely matted animal is a longer, slower and more careful session, and sometimes the honest answer is a short clip rather than hours of pulling on skin. We tell you which it is at drop-off, with the price, before anything begins.

Why prices vary so much across the city
Comparing grooming quotes here is genuinely difficult, and the reasons are mostly structural rather than dishonest.

Almost nobody publishes
Most salons quote after seeing the animal, so the only way to compare is to visit several. That is the gap this page exists to close.

Persians, Huskies, Golden Retrievers and Poodles are everywhere in Dubai, and those coats take real time regardless of who does them.

How often a groom is worth booking
Frequency affects cost more than any negotiation does — a coat kept on schedule is a cheaper, shorter and far less stressful session than one rescued twice a year.

How much should I pay for a dog groom?
Judge it on what the session actually includes rather than the headline figure. A fair price covers bath, dry, full brush-out, nails, ears and paw pads with one dog handled at a time — not several animals cycled through together. Weight and coat length legitimately change the number; being quoted one figure on the phone and charged another at collection does not. Ask for the quote at drop-off, in writing if you like.
How much do you tip a $70 dog groomer?
Tipping is customary in some countries and much less established here — nobody in Dubai will think less of you for not tipping a groomer, and we do not build it into our pricing. If you want to recognise a good job, most groomers value a review naming them far more than cash. What matters more to us is that the price you were quoted at drop-off is the price at collection.
Is it okay to cut cats matted fur?
Not with scissors at home, and this is the injury we see most often from home grooming. A cat's skin is thin and lifts into the mat, so what looks like a gap between fur and skin usually is not — scissors go through both. Mats are removed with clippers at the right length, working in short sessions. If a coat is beyond that, a short clip under sedation is kinder than hours of pulling, and we would tell you so rather than start.
Is a matted cat neglect?
Usually not, and it is worth saying plainly because owners often arrive embarrassed. Cats stop grooming themselves when something hurts — arthritis, dental pain, obesity, or simply age making it hard to reach the back and hips. A matted coat on a cat that used to be immaculate is more often the first visible sign of a medical problem than a sign of neglect, which is why we examine as well as groom.
